Turkmenistan’s pavilion at Expo 2025 is a representation of cultural heritage, environmental harmony, and national identity expressed through modern architectural design. The pavilion, consisting of three levels, has an oval-shaped, soft triangular form when viewed from above.
This distinctive shape symbolizes renewal, sustainable development, and the flow of life. Additionally, the architectural solution of the pavilion creates a natural microclimate around it, providing a cool and comfortable environment for visitors during the summer months.
The pavilion’s roof is inspired by the ancient national jewelry of the Turkmen people, the "gülýakadan" (a type of Turkmen ornament). Its smooth, clear, curved lines reflect harmony and beauty. The exterior design of the building is inspired by the vast expanses of the Karakum Desert, which covers 70% of Turkmenistan’s total area.
This desert is not only a barren land but also a rich ecological habitat with 757 plant species and 1,200 animal species, highlighting the interconnectedness of life.
An immersive journey to Turkmenistan
On the first floor of the pavilion, the exhibition hall equipped with modern technologies offers visitors an immersive experience of the country’s history, culture, economic development, and natural resources. Through wide-panel screens, combined with light and sound, the animation and visual effects provide a deep, sensory understanding of these aspects.
This multimedia environment not only conveys information but also evokes emotions related to Turkmenistan’s spiritual and cultural identity, ensuring that visitors leave the pavilion with a lasting impression.
Everlasting cultural heritage awaiting visitors
The exhibits at Turkmenistan's pavilion not only showcase national heritage but also celebrate the country's contribution to the world’s significant cultural legacy. Each handwoven Turkmen carpet tells the story of history and traditions that have been passed down through millennia, with intricate patterns and deep meanings.
These designs are not just symbols of art but also embody the harmonious relationship with nature, unity, and the spirit of peace. The richly colored and delicately crafted national costumes reflect the identity, dignity, and aesthetic values of the Turkmen people.
The patterns on these garments express respect for history, society, and labor. These values can be recognized as universal human principles shared by all nations. These cultural treasures transcend national boundaries and stand as symbols of global cooperation, trust, sustainable development, and peaceful living.
Turkmenistan’s pavilion invites all visitors to view these traditions not as distant relics but as an integral part of the shared human heritage.
Dishes inspired by the Great Silk Road
Turkmen dishes, originating from the heart of the Great Silk Road, have been passed down through generations, preserving their uniqueness to this day. The national dishes served in the restaurant on the third floor of the pavilion are based on noble recipes rooted in the life principles and rich cultural heritage of the Turkmen people. Each dish reflects the history, art, and international cultural relations of the Turkmen nation.
On specially prepared traditional platforms in the open area, visitors can experience the unique essence of Turkmen hospitality. Adorned with carpets and beautiful patterns, these resting areas symbolize the respect given to guests with tea, spiritual closeness, and cultural connections. This is not just mealtime - it is an invitation for the peoples of the world to embrace friendship, trust, and harmonious living.
